Portfolio:
French Knot Embroidery

One of the goals I set at ALT (ALT might be a recurring theme here for a while) was to get back to sharing the work that I do.  I got so bogged down in trying to create tutorials and commercially appealing features and trying to be like the big bloggers, that I forgot that I'm not like the big bloggers.  I am an artist and maker who has a passion for teaching.  I don't list blogger anywhere on my resume, but I do list fiber arts and embroidery.  So here I want to share with you my portfolio as I make it, as a work in progress.  Hopefully it will inspire you to make something too.

Lately in my embroidery I have been playing with simplicity.  I have been enjoying creating patterns by layering a single stitch, like I did in my abstract embroidery and my segmented circles piece.  In this piece I layered hundreds of french knots in shades of grey and pale purples to create this scalloped cloud pattern.  I really enjoyed the process and the meditative nature of repeating a single stitch in this way.  I definitely think I will keep playing with this method.
