I'm finished with my latest embroidery piece, and I have officially titled it Three Feathers. I started this piece over a month ago. You all saw the sketching process to come up with the designs. See the details after the jump.
It took me a while to finally settle of which stitches to use. I ended up using a satin stitch for the spine of the feathers and then a back stitch, stem stitch, and split stitch for the hairy bits (still don't know what those are called).
I'm really happy with how the three stitches work together to differentiate the feathers and create the unique patterns on each. This piece is made of hand-dyed cotton muslin and cotton thread.

Hi Megan - I was looking at some of your how to embroidery posts this morning, and found this post too. This piece is stunning! I can't believe how tiny your stitches look, and the patterns you created are so beautiful. Thanks again for your tips at the craft meetup last weekend. It was great meeting you!
